Slate Brook Farm

Llamas
(work in progress, please keep checking back)

Hello again and welcome to our llama page.  We were introduced to the llama world in 2004 when my sister Janet acquired her first alpacs and llamas.  We spent many hours with Janet and her animals while she shared her knowledge and taught us everything she had learned over her 7 years working on an alpaca farm.  In May 2005 we purchased our first llama, Ramone an 8 month old suri male.  Over the past year Ramone convinced us that we were eager and ready to enter into the wonderful world of llamas.  We have only recently expanded our herd by purchasing three more females and are considering another male. We are also expecting our first cria this Spring and are very excited.

Llamas are intelligent, graceful, elegant animals that provide beautiful, light weight, warm fiber that is excellent for spinning.  They also make excellent pack animals, are great guards for other animals and are peaceful, gentle, curious companions for humans.  Like our myotonics our goal is to produce healthy, conformationally correct, people friendly llamas.  We would eventually like to offer llamas for sale as well as offer breeding services.  We also have the excellent advantage of bordering 4,000 acres of New York State Land that offers many scenic trails and are in hopes that we can offer packing for those who would like to experience a llama adventure.

As we stated on our home page, visitors are always welcome at Slate Brook Farm and we have enjoyed the many people who have stopped by, especially the little visitors.
