NB The University organises teaching placements for applicants to the full time PCET programmes. Section 7 Previous Work Experience Please indicate all work experience relevant to your application. Section 8 Personal statement/further information The five hundred word personal statement is your chance to say why you want to apply for your chosen course and to include any further information in support of your application. Admissions Tutors will be interested in your reasons for wanting to teach your subject area in the Post Compulsory Sector, your career aspirations, and relevant experience and information concerning your intellectual, social, sporting or other interests. Please continue on a separate sheet if necessary. Education and Training applicants please write a brief introductory paragraph to tell us a little bit about yourself and why you wish to apply for the course. Section 9 References Please give the contact details for two referees who can comment upon your suitability for the course and your academic ability. If you are unable to obtain a reference from a previous/current course tutor because you have been out of education for some time you may wish to consider asking your current or last employer, training officer or careers advisor or, if you belong to a relevant organisation (voluntary or not), an officer of that organisation. Please note, friends and relatives are not acceptable referees. We will contact your referees immediately upon receipt of your application and by including their details you will be giving us permission to do so. If you have any questions or concerns about who you can ask for a referee please contact the Admissions Office. Section 10 Finance There are tuition fees for all our courses (please consult the course literature or contact the admissions office if you are unsure of the exact amount) and you will need indicate how you are going to pay them. If someone else will be paying your fees please provide their details in this section. Funding: Please indicate in this section if you have received any funding for Post-Graduate Study before as this may affect what and how much you are entitled to apply for. Section 11 Disclosure and Baring Service check and Criminal Convictions You are required to state whether or not you have any past or pending criminal convictions, cautions and reprimands, including any that may be considered spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 & 2013. If you tick the 'Yes' box, the tutor may ask if you wish to disclose anything at interview. All applicants who are then made an offer of a place on an initial teacher training course need to complete an enhanced DBS disclosure. In the event that a Criminal conviction is confirmed after a DBS check has been carried out the offer of a place is reviewed by the University.
