Digital Education workshops

The Digital Education team have designed a broad range of sessions to support academic practice and enhance teaching with technology.

We are currently reviewing our workshop offering, however, if you are interested in Digital Education running one or more of the following workshops below, please contact the team at digi-ed@plymouth.ac.uk so we can arrange a convenient time for us to meet with you and your colleagues.

As part of our broad range of sessions, we offer an extensive programme of face to face sessions on tools including Moodle, PebblePad, Panopto and more.

Online courses

We have a number of online courses that can be worked through in your own time on Moodle. These include Getting started with Moodle and eSubmission. The online courses are available on the DLE under Help > Staff help > .
Webinar
We can also deliver a number of sessions via Webinar so you can learn from your own office or home. If you would like to request a session via webinar, please contact the Digital Education team at digi-ed@plymouth.ac.uk.
LinkedIn Learning
All students and staff to have access to , a continually growing and evolving library of training videos, tutorials and online courses covering a wide range of software, technologies and business topics. Students and staff members can take advantage of 24/7 access to the entire library of training. This includes tools such as Office 365, Moodle and thousands more.

Accessibility and Ally for Teaching and Learning

This short session will discuss the recent changes in accessibility legislation and the impact on teaching and learning content. You will also learn about a new tool called Ally, which is integrated into Moodle to help support and improve accessibility of content within the DLE. Other accessibility tools found within popular software such as Microsoft Word will also be discussed. (45 mins)

Engaging your students using Zoom

Learn how to use Zoom with other collaborative and engaging tools. This session will use both Mentimeter and Miro during the session. (60 mins)

Building Student Engagement with Moodle

A short informal hands-on review of the Moodle tools. You will have the opportunity to try out a selection of Moodle activities and discuss how they can be used in your online teaching. Concentrating on making ‘Quick Wins’ with an overview of all tools, this session will be reactive to your needs on the day. (60 mins)

Using Panopto from home and on campus

This session covers the use of Panopto and Zoom in your teaching whether you are teaching from home or on campus.
We will discuss which tool to use and when as well as the option and the process of making our recordings available to our students via the DLE. We will also touch upon some accessibility options and finally what students see and how they can interact with recorded content.
The session is a 45 minutes demo with 15 minutes for questions and answers at the end.

Learn at your desktop with an online workshop

How about attending an online training session at your desk or on your mobile device? To save you time, we deliver short topics online – no more than 60 minutes per session. These sessions are designed to inspire ideas on how to use online tools with some instructions on how to use them. For example, using Moodle activities to create a tutorial schedule for your students or set conditions to release content automatically.
