About Elana
I am a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ, with a clinical background in adult forensic mental health and children and young people, including both school and clinic-based settings. My experience spans the NHS, private practice, and work in both the UK and the USA.
Since a career change to Occupational Therapy in 2007, I have maintained a strong focus on occupation-centered practice throughout my education, research, and clinical career. This emphasis led to my PhD research, titled "Sensing Freedom: An Occupational Therapy and Service User Perspective of Sensory Processing and Occupational Participation in Forensic Mental Health." Additionally, I am engaged in a clinically-based research project exploring sea swimming as a meaningful occupational activity within a forensic inpatient setting.
