Where else can I find support?
A whole range of services are available within Student Services and across the University:
  • Disability Inclusion Services may be able to help you with disability-related support, for example if you have dyslexia or have been diagnosed with a mental health difficulty.
  • Learning services offers help with exam revision and getting organised as well as reading effectively and essay writing.
  • Pastoral and spiritual support (multi-faith chaplaincy) offers a place to drop-in and talk to someone, whatever your beliefs.
  • , part of the Students' Union, provides advice about a whole host of issues including academic, consumer, debt, housing, legal, student funding and welfare benefits.
The Student Wellbeing Service has well-developed links with a number of agencies and specialist services in the city of Plymouth.

    Provides general medical services for students at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ. Out of hours GPs in Plymouth can be found by calling NHS 111, dial 111 from any phone.

  • Offers information and advice about support services, activities and organisations for people who live in Plymouth.

  • Plymouth Options is a city-wide service for adults in Plymouth with common problems such as anxiety and depression. Provide counselling, CBT. Self-refer or via GP.

  • Supporting severe and/or enduring mental health problems.

  • Charity offering free, confidential support and information to young people. Anyone aged 16- 25 years can drop into The Zone on any day of the week (Monday - Friday between 12pm - 5pm) to speak with one of the Youth Support Volunteers.

  • Icebreak provides a friendly and accessible service committed to supporting and empowering people aged 16- 25 years who are experiencing emotional distress.

  • The Insight team is a free and confidential Early Intervention Service offering support to people aged 18 - 35 years who may be experiencing symptoms of early psychosis.

  • Harbour helps anyone, including family and friends, affected by the misuse of drugs and alcohol by providing information, education, assessment and care co-ordination.

  • First Light is a registered charity and the lead agency for the Plymouth Sexual Assault Referral Centre. They provide support to men, women, children and young people who have been affected by rape and serious sexual assault.

  • Eddystone Trust is an independent sexual health charity based in the South West, UK.

  • Charity established in 1995. EDS is funded by the NEW Devon Clinical Commissioning Group, to support those with a recognisable eating disorder.
  • Out of hours you can contact the 24/7 First Response Support Line for mental health support on 0800 923 9323.

  • Relationship counselling. Sex therapy. Family counselling. This service charges on a sliding scale.

  • Cruse Bereavement Care can support you after the death of someone close. If someone you know has died and you need to talk.

  • Offers specialist bereavement counselling in response to complicated grief.

  • Plymouth-based voluntary organisation that operates, encourages and develops services for adult male survivors of sexual abuse.

  • Talk to the Samaritans any time you like, in your own way, and off the record – about whatever’s getting to you. You don’t have to be suicidal.

  • Structured and goal-focused to support people to become more involved in social, leisure, educational, training, volunteering and employment opportunities.

  • The new partnership between Plymouth Citizens Advice Bureau, Plymouth Guild, Routeways and Age UK Plymouth.

  • Simply Counselling is a community interest company that provides counselling to individuals, couples, carers and families, in the Plymouth area. This service charges on a sliding scale.

  • Counselling service offered by registered Christian caring agency with a Christian ethos committed to providing an inclusive service to those who seek help, whether they be of another faith or of no faith at all.

  • Proud2Be is a grassroots user-led social enterprise that supports LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and/or questioning+) people in Devon and beyond, to lead empowered, fulfilled and authentic lives.

  • Intercom Trust is a lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans+ charity working across Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and the wider South West.

Togetherall

Togetherall is a safe, online, peer-to-peer community where people support each other anonymously to improve mental health and wellbeing. Togetherall is designed to help you take control of your mental health and start to feel better. You will have access to a 24/7 online community and professional support from trained counsellors. Togetherall provides a safe space online to get things off your chest, explore your feelings, get creative and learn how to self-manage your mental health and wellbeing.

Togetherall is free and totally anonymous, so no one will know you’ve chosen to use it unless you tell them!
