South West Creative Technology Network

A three-year project to expand the use of creative digital technologies across the South West of England (2018-21)

Established in 2018, the South West Creative Technology Network (SWCTN) aimed to develop a new, networked model of Knowledge Exchange for creative technologies and innovation; harnessing expertise across the South West region to deliver a series of interdisciplinary research and development programmes that would grow the capabilities and connections between the participating Higher Education Institutions, and industry partners. The project’s focus on creative technology fused together arts, design, computer sciences, engineering and business development to deliver innovative new products, services and experiences.

SWCTN ignited a powerful regional network with international reach - connecting the liveliest minds to grapple with three of the most disorientating issues facing creative and cultural practice (and beyond): Immersion, Automation and Data.

Funders and Partners

SWCTN was funded by Research England as a three-year project which ended in March 2021. The grant was part of Research England’s Connecting Capabilities Fund, which supports university collaboration and encourages commercialisation for products made through partnership with industry.
